Salina Roof Pros installs and repairs roofs across Salina and Saline County: architectural laminate shingles, standing seam and exposed-fastener steel, TPO and modified bitumen on low-slope decks, plus flashing, ventilation, gutters, fascia and skylights. Houses, rentals, churches, farm shops and commercial buildings. Nothing gets torn off before you have the scope in writing.

Salina takes 29.69 inches of precipitation in a normal year. Kansas City takes 39.30 and Topeka 36.53. Nearly every rule of thumb a homeowner finds online, and most of what arrives with a crew out of Wichita or the metro, was written against those wetter numbers. It produces two expensive mistakes here: tearing off roofs that needed one detail fixed, and paying for moisture-fighting upgrades with no moisture to fight.

So we start from the failure mode. A roof in this town usually ends its life through ultraviolet exposure and a mat that has dried and stiffened, not through rot, moss or algae. That single distinction decides what we look at on the ladder, which product we argue for, which upgrades we tell you to skip, and how much of your money we actually end up asking for.

Our Roofing Services in Salina, KS

Roof Replacement in Salina, KS

Roof Replacement

The right question about replacement in Salina is not where the roof leaks. It is how old the covering is and what the mat does when you lift a tab.

Roof Leak Repair in Salina, KS

Roof Leak Repair

Of every page on this site, this is the one that costs us the most business, so we may as well be blunt. A leak on a Salina roof under about eighteen years old is almost never a reason to replace that roof.

Storm Damage Restoration in Salina, KS

Storm Damage Restoration

Central Kansas storms arrive fast, do their work in ten minutes, and leave a queue of homeowners with two hard problems: telling real damage from ordinary age, and finding a crew that will still be reachable in October. We handle the first one by separating the storm from the roof underneath it.

Hail Damage Roofing in Salina, KS

Hail Damage Roofing

Hail gets treated as an explanation around here, and it is not one. It is evidence.

Wind Damage Roofing in Salina, KS

Wind Damage Roofing

Wind on the open prairie does not need a named storm to take a roof apart. It needs an edge, and central Kansas supplies the wind on an ordinary spring afternoon with nothing between the field and your rake board to slow it down.

Roof Inspections in Salina, KS

Roof Inspections

An inspection in this town is an age test, not a moisture hunt, and that changes what a useful one looks like. We answer a single question with evidence: how many seasons does this covering realistically have left, and which part fails first.

Asphalt Shingle Roofs in Salina, KS

Asphalt Shingle Roofs

Nearly every sloped roof in Salina is asphalt, and nearly every asphalt roof in Salina dies the same way: ultraviolet exposure strips granules, the mat underneath dries and stiffens, and one spring it starts cracking instead of bending. Knowing that tells you where the upgrade money should go, and it is not where the brochures put it.

Metal Roofing in Salina, KS

Metal Roofing

Metal is not exotic in central Kansas. It is the ordinary roof on every machine shop, implement dealer and grain building for sixty miles, and there is a genuine local supply chain of roll-formed panel behind it.

Tile Roofing in Salina, KS

Tile Roofing

Tile is rare in Salina and we are going to spend most of this page explaining why we usually advise against installing more of it. That is an odd position for a roofing contractor to take.

Flat and Low-Slope Roofing in Salina, KS

Flat and Low-Slope Roofing

Low-slope work in Salina splits cleanly in two: the downtown and industrial decks that were always flat, and the porch, addition and carport roofs on houses where somebody built below the pitch a shingle can handle. The second group causes more grief than the first.

Roof Coatings and Sealing in Salina, KS

Roof Coatings and Sealing

Coatings have a bad name in most of the country and they have earned it, because in a wet climate a coating is frequently a way of postponing a decision. In central Kansas the arithmetic genuinely runs the other way.

Roof Ventilation in Salina, KS

Roof Ventilation

Attic ventilation gets sold in the Midwest on winter moisture: condensation on the deck, frost on the nails, mold in the sheathing. That is a real problem in a lot of places.

Skylights in Salina, KS

Skylights

A skylight is a hole cut in the one surface of your house that is entirely responsible for keeping water out. Done properly it lasts decades.

Gutters and Downspouts in Salina, KS

Gutters and Downspouts

There is one product on this list we argue against far more often than we sell it: gutter guards. In a town with very little tree canopy over most of its roofs, guards solve a problem that a large share of Salina houses do not have.

Fascia and Soffit in Salina, KS

Fascia and Soffit

Fascia and soffit get sold on rot, and rot is genuinely uncommon on Salina eaves. What we find instead is failed paint, backed-out fasteners, wind-loosened aluminum, and soffit vents that stopped doing their job years ago without anyone noticing.

Chimney Flashing in Salina, KS

Chimney Flashing

More sound roofs in Salina leak at the chimney than anywhere else. The field is fine, the mat has years left, and water is arriving through a detail that somebody sealed instead of building.

Emergency Tarping in Salina, KS

Emergency Tarping

Emergency work is the one part of roofing where doing less is usually doing better. Get the water out, stop the damage, document everything, and then wait for conditions that let the permanent repair actually be permanent.

Commercial Roofing in Salina, KS

Commercial Roofing

Salina carries more low-slope and metal square footage than a city of forty-seven thousand normally would. The industrial ground out by the airport, the downtown blocks along Santa Fe Avenue, the churches, the schools, and every implement dealer and machine shop serving the wheat country around it.

Insurance Claim Help

We document claims. We do not adjust them, we hold no public adjuster license, and we will not opine on what your policy owes you.

Why Salina Chooses Salina Roof Pros

  • We date the roof before we price it. Salina roofs die on a clock driven by ultraviolet exposure, so age tells us more than any single leak ever will.
  • We argue against upgrades the climate will never test. Algae-resistant granules and zinc strips fight a problem that a dry, treeless prairie town largely does not have.
  • Field and details are separate line items. In this climate the boots and counterflashing wear out years ahead of the shingle mat, and pricing them together hides that.
  • Deck photographs on every job, claim or no claim. A Salina roof with a dated photo history argues from evidence at renewal, at sale, and with an adjuster.
  • We quote steel honestly. Central Kansas is full of good ag panel, but the thing that ends a metal roof here is thermal movement, not corrosion, so the clips matter.
  • No deductible arrangements, no rebates, no discount dressed up as a favor. K.S.A. 40-2,175 is clear about it, and so are we, in writing, before you sign.

About Salina Roof Pros in Salina, KS

Salina Roof Pros is a roofing contractor working Salina, Saline County and the surrounding Smoky Hills counties. We came at this trade from a specific irritation: the advice reaching central Kansas homeowners is written for markets that get a third more rain. It sells tear-offs that should have been repairs, and upgrades built for a humidity we do not have.

What we do instead is decide the failure mode first. Granule loss, mat embrittlement and thermal movement drive the calendar here. Rot, moss and algae mostly do not. That distinction is why our crews photograph every deck they open, why we date roofs before we price them, and why our estimates carry a repair line next to the replacement line rather than only the second one.

Look somewhere else if what you want is a same-week tear-off on a roof that is fifteen years old and dry. We will tell you to spend a few hundred dollars on the boots and the chimney and come back to us in four years, and if that is not the answer you want, another contractor will happily sell you the roof. We would rather have the fourth-year call.

How It Works

01

We date the roof before we price it

Age drives almost everything here, so the first question is when this covering went on. Permit history, the layer count at the rake, the fastener style, the way the mat cracks when a tab is lifted. A roof of known age gets an honest recommendation. A roof of guessed age gets a guess.

02

Field and details priced separately

The shingle field and the penetrations fail on different clocks in a dry climate. Boots, counterflashing and valley metal wear out long before the mat does. We price them as two lines so you can see when the sensible purchase is four hundred dollars of detail work rather than a full tear-off.

03

Deck opened and photographed

We pull the old covering, walk the sheathing, and photograph what is under it before a single roll of underlayment goes down. Plank decking that stayed dry for sixty years gets left alone. Anything soft gets replaced, measured and shown to you in the photo set, not just added to an invoice.

04

Written scope, dated warranty, filed paperwork

You get a scope naming materials by manufacturer and line, the fastening pattern, and the workmanship term in years. Our Kansas registration number goes on the permit application where the statute puts it. The photo file stays on our side too, which is what makes a later claim or a home sale straightforward.

What Salina Customers Say

★★★★★
They climbed up expecting to sell me a roof and came down telling me the mat had years left and the problem was two pipe boots. Charged me for two pipe boots. That is rarer than it should be.
Dana Whitcomb · Lindsborg
★★★★★
Full tear-off on a fifties ranch. They opened the deck, photographed the whole thing, and showed me the six boards that actually needed swapping instead of quoting a blanket sheathing charge. Scope matched the invoice to the dollar.
Roger Neuschwander · Abilene
★★★★★
Talked me out of the upgraded shingle I had already decided on and into a better impact rating for less money. Explained exactly why the algae warranty was worthless out here. The steel on our shop went on the same week.
Katie Ohlde · Minneapolis
★★★★★
Storm took part of the ridge off. They tarped it that evening, then made us wait three weeks for the real repair so it went on in decent weather. Annoying at the time, correct in hindsight, and they said so plainly.

Commercial roofing services in Salina, KS

Commercial and agricultural roofing across Saline County

Salina carries far more low-slope and metal square footage than a town of forty-seven thousand normally would, between the industrial ground at the airport, the downtown blocks along Santa Fe Avenue, and the machine shops and implement dealers that serve the wheat country around it. Dry climate is kind to those assemblies and hard on their seams, so our commercial work runs heavily to seam, fastener and edge maintenance rather than to wholesale replacement.

  • Single-ply TPO and EPDM installed, seam-probed and repaired
  • Modified bitumen and built-up work on older downtown decks
  • Exposed-fastener steel: screw and washer replacement programs
  • Standing seam panel replacement with concealed floating clips
  • Acrylic and silicone coating systems over sound existing membrane
  • Roof drains, scuppers and internal leader inspection
  • Curb, duct and rooftop unit flashing on ag and light industry
  • Annual condition reports written for budget and board approval

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Kansas license roofing contractors, and does Salina require anything more?

Kansas issues no roofing license and runs no roofing exam. Instead it runs a registration program out of the Attorney General's office under K.S.A. 50-6,121, and an unregistered roofer cannot even bring a claim in a Kansas court over the work. Salina layers its own specialty contractor license on top, handled by the City Clerk, with a qualifying test and liability coverage naming the city.

My roof is twelve years old and leaking. Do I need a new one?

Usually not. Twelve years of Salina weather does not rot a deck, because there is not enough water sitting on it long enough to do that. A leak at that age is nearly always a pipe boot, a chimney counterflashing, a valley, or a nail that backed out. We fix the detail, photograph the deck while it is open, and tell you honestly what year to start budgeting.

Are algae-resistant shingles worth the upgrade here?

For most Salina addresses, no. The copper-granule product exists to fight the black streaking that grows where a roof stays damp and shaded, and this is a dry, largely treeless town. If the same money goes into an impact rating instead, it buys something the climate will actually test. Shaded north slopes under old cottonwoods are the exception, and we say so on site.

How long should a shingle roof last in Salina?

Plan on the high teens to low twenties for a mid-grade laminate, and treat a thirty-year label as marketing rather than a forecast. Roofs here age by ultraviolet exposure and thermal cycling. The south and west slopes reach the end first, and by the time the mat cracks instead of bending, the covering is finished regardless of what any warranty document says.

Do you handle insurance claims, and do you handle them differently?

We document and we do not adjust. The difference in central Kansas is that age decides most claims, so a roof with no dated photo history argues from nothing. We measure, we photograph slope by slope, we write what we saw, and we hand it to you. We will not pay, absorb or discount your deductible under any arrangement.

Can you work on farm buildings and shops outside the city limits?

Yes, and that work makes up a good share of our week across Saline, Ottawa, Dickinson, McPherson and Ellsworth counties. Exposed-fastener steel over purlins, screw replacement on a twenty-year-old shop, hip and ridge on a house, valley detailing on a church. Travel is priced into the estimate up front rather than appearing later as a line you did not agree to.
